  1. What is your name? Monique Havenga

  2. Who is someone you admire and why?  I admire a lot of people in my life.  But do feel that every person I meet and work with has something worth admiring.

  3. Do you have any pet peeves?  Don’t get me started! The struggle is real!  I hate when I can hear people eat, especially crunchy things.  Don’t touch me with your feet…. That’s just gross.  When people think I am a gym mommy, just because I get to go to work in gym clothes.

  4. Do you have any skills or talents that most people don’t know about? I’d like to see myself as an artist.  I love taking old things and make them new again.

  5. Finish this sentence. On Sunday morning you can usually find me…..out on a run with my bestie, or having coffee in bed catching up with my hubby.

  6. What are you happiest doing, when you are not working? Spending time with my loved ones and going for a run or a workout.

  7. What is your personal motto? Treat everyone with love, kindness and respect.

What is your spirit animal and why? Mmmm… let’s think about this for a second…  A spider.  When a spider slides in as a spirit animal, it’s time to weave your wishes into reality.  You are the maker and the keeper of your own destiny.  The spider helps you when you need balance to walk this world with ease.

  9. Do you have any nicknames? My sister calls me Dude, My Hubby calls me Babe, Nix calls me Mon, My friend call me Moniqie, My clients, well…. The butcher, The masochist, The Torturer.  (But to this day I really don’t know why? Hehehe!)

  10. What is your definition of happiness? Love, Family, Friends, Doing what I love.

  11. What is the most inspiring part of your job? The fact that I get so see the changes in my client’s life, body and mind.  I get to be part of their healing, healthy journeys.

  12. Why did you choose Pilates as a career? I’ve always loved movement.  I love physically working with people.  And it saved my life! In times of depression and stress it saves me.

  13. Are you more a gatherer or a hunter? Neither, but I can tell you who is a gatherer! Nix! Have you seen that girl setting up for a class?  The whole studio gets packed up and moved to her little corner of the world.  She reminds me of a squirrel, getting ready for the winter.

  14. Any advice for you previous bosses?  …….:-) HAHAHA? Inspire, lead with compassion, encourage growth and just be kind.

  15. What inspires you? I find inspiration in movement, in people, in live, in the unwanted and ugly things life gives.  I find inspiration in the struggle.

  16. How would you rate your memory? When it comes to the human body and my job, great! Life not so much. I left home the other morning to go to work, without shoes!

  17. How would you convince someone, to do something you don’t want to do? I don’t know, but I do it for a living.

  18. What is the nerdiest thing you do in your spare time? I read fantasy books, about love, werewolves, vampires, dragons and fairies.

  19. If you had a chance to do a do- over in life, what would you do differently? Nothing everything in my life got me to where I am today.  My challenges, my heartbreaks, the people in my life, the good, the bad, the ugly. The bullies broke me, but life moulded me to the strong ass woman I am now.

  20. How did the two of you meet? At work haha, the we just clicked. I love that girl.

  21. Name one thing about your partner, that you have in common? Oh my sooooooo, many things.  We both have a passion for life, our careers and chocolate with orange.

  22. What would you want your tombstone to say about you? I don’t want a tomb stone.  Throw my ashes in the bin, let my life define me, not my tombstone.

  23. What was one of the most defining moments in your life? Becoming a wife and a mother! Seeing your heart literally running around outside of your body.  That is one scary but amazing moment.

  24. What is your strongest personal quality? I don’t know! Sometimes my strengths feel like weaknesses and my weaknesses like strengths.

  1. What is your name? Nicole Eyre
  2. Who is someone you admire and why? There are quite a few people in my life who I admire, like my parents, friends and mentors. But I couldn’t narrow this answer down to a person but rather a quality. I admire people who against it all display courage! Courage in maintaining their beliefs despite the opinions of others, courage in their persistence to never give up, courage in showing compassion to others even when they will be perceived as weak. I admire anyone who is unapologetically courageous in all their endeavours.
  3. Do you have any pet peeves? Hmmm I don’t think I have too many, generally I’m pretty accepting of a lot of things and easy going. But I would have to say people who stand on top of you in a que… please no! It’s not going to make the que go any faster! Hmm people who stare at you in the shops or at a restaurant, can you say stranger danger?  And my boyfriends OCD… everything! Don’t ask me to mop the floor and then mop behind me … or ask me to pack the dish washer and then repack the dish washer after me (big eye roll).
  4. Do you have any skills or talents that most people don’t know about? I’m a kaleidoscope of skills, if it’s needed I’ll try my best to be it. In terms of talent, I don’t like to brag but… I’m pretty good in the kitchen. I have done acting, singing and dancing most of my life, hardly anyone knows about it. My ability to put people at ease … is definitely a Talent!

  6. What are you happiest doing, when you are not working? Working out, definitely! Spending time with the people I love. Tanning.
  7. What is your personal motto? Let go, stressing isn’t going to change it. Everything happens for a reason.
  8. What is your spirit animal and why? Monique and I have sussed this out, as I had absolutely no clue. The Owl is my spirit animal, it has the ability to see what others miss and helps people see the deeper meaning in things and discover the hidden treasures in life. You can tell me if you agree when you meet me.
  9. Do you have any nicknames? Sooo many! Nix is the more standard acceptable one, most close friends and family call me Nix. Just Nixie or Nixie Pixie (cause apparently, I’m always off with the pixies. I disagree) My brother calls me noonch (pronounced Nu-n-cha) no idea why. My dad calls me Tweetheart (my best!), My partner calls me babe, love etc but the he calls me a nickname I HATE the most (I won’t write it, you can ask me in person!) Mon calls me dude <3
  10. What is your definition of happiness? Happiness for me … is making my loved ones happy and doing everything I want to in life & just being my quirky crazy-self without worrying about judgement or regrets. Happiness would be living my best life to the full and helping all my loved ones to do the same!
  11. What is the most inspiring part of your job? Wow, there are so many inspiring parts to my job. My mentors, clients and friends inspire to be my best every day. Learning and experiencing growth as a result of… inspires me. But most of all seeing my clients reach their goals and improve their quality of life, those are the moments I live for!
  12. Why did you choose Pilates as a career? Honestly … Pilates chose me! I started this as a part time job while still studying, and slowly it became a career with happy clients telling me this is what I should be doing full time.
  13. Are you more a gatherer or a hunter? If you’ve read Mon’s Bio … you’ll know I’m clearly a gatherer (laughing for days). But this is a hard one, I would say we a bit of both.
  14. Any advice for you previous bosses? …….:-) HAHAHA? Lead by example, don’t delegate and boss around. Drive and inspire everyone to give and be their best. Engage with your clients, regardless if you teach them or not.
  15. What inspires you? Enabling everyone to live their best life. I believe exercise is a force for change, a change for the better. I have experienced it personally and have seen clients experience it. I am inspired every day to help my clients reach a point where they can live their best lives.
  16. How would you rate your memory? I think it’s pretty good, my friends and family will tell you different. I can quote you just about any line out of any movie, and remember a story you told me about that one friend, that one time… but I might forget to pick up the milk on the way home.
  17. How would you convince someone, to do something you don’t want to do? Yaaas by asking nicely with a lot of eyelid batting! Generally, I would never ask someone to do something they couldn’t do or I couldn’t do myself! But serious situations (like bug removal/squashing) I ask nicely and bat my eyes a lot!!!!
  18. What is the nerdiest thing you do in your spare time? I used to read old comic books that my parents had from their childhood, like Archie.
  19. If you had a chance to do a do- over in life, what would you do differently? I can’t think of anything. I am the person I am today because of everything that has happened to me in life. We’ve all seen multiple movies about do-overs, they do not necessarily fix anything. It’s about how you learn from your past and making the most of your future.
  20. How did the two of you meet? She was my teacher / mentor during my large equipment course at my place of work, we were immediately friends. She is now still my mentor and inspiration and I am blessed to say friend and business partner! I love her and am thankful for Mon every day!
  21. Name one thing about your partner, that you have in common? One thing, shoo… we work as business partners and friends because there are many things. Often I say we are the same, she is just the brunette version and I am the blonde. We have in common our love for pilates and people. We love helping people and inspiring them to be their best and for once in life putting themselves and their health first. We love to laugh and DIY and as Mon said, even the combination of chocolate and orange… we can share that over a glass of red wine any day.
  22. What would you want your tombstone to say about you? Oh no, please don’t put me in the ground with the bugs! But I really hope people will remember me as a thoughtful, loving, slap your knee hilarious type of person. I would hope they felt I made a difference in their lives.
  23. What was one of the most defining moments in your life? Learning to love myself and that people do like me just the way I am. This moment defined me and helped me to take my power back from all of the people who had ever put me down.
  24. What is your strongest personal quality? I would say unconditional love and understanding. People think it’s a weakness, but let me tell you it takes a whole lot of strength to still smile and wish good things for someone who has hurt you.
